How the AI Works
RMBG-1.4 is a salient object segmentation model developed by BRIA AI. It was designed to precisely separate foreground subjects from complex backgrounds in high-resolution images, achieving strong results on hair, fur, and fine edge detail.
We run RMBG-1.4 via Transformers.js, which uses WebGPU acceleration where available and falls back to WebAssembly. The model runs directly in your browser with no server involvement.
On your first use, the model weights (~175 MB) are downloaded once from HuggingFace Hub and cached by your browser. Subsequent uses are significantly faster.
Privacy guarantee: because inference runs locally, your photos never touch a server. There are no logs, no storage, and no data collection of any kind.
